Sophia seemed to enjoy painting primates (as much as she loved painting them holding dogs.) Perhaps it was the human-like qualities she saw and was able to capture in their faces.

The background on this painting is particularly lovely, but I recall her being most excited that a tiny capuchin monkey could so love a dog.
