Merry Christmas – A King Has Been Born!
I thank God’s Holy Spirit for inspiring me to write this simple love song to worship Him. I hope His love inspires you as well.
The song is based on Psalm 96 and is about the gift of His love being so powerful that it renders me speechless.
Praise be to God during this joyous season and throughout the year!
Speechless
How can I be still on this holy night
When a king is born to save the world?
But my lips fall silent as your Word comes to life
Your precious Gift has left me speechless
To reach to me you sent your only Son
And I long to sing praise to your holy name
From every high place to every living thing
But your love leaves me speechless (so) …
Let the heavens be glad and all the earth rejoice*
Let the sea roar and all that fills it be my voice*
Let the fields be joyful and everything in them sing your praise*
And trees exalt you and all creation cry out amen!*
What can I sing to you on this holy night?
When words alone don’t seem enough?
My lips tremble as I worship you
As my joyful heart beats out in wonder
In silent praise to You my King!
Hallelujah to the perfect Lamb!
I long to tell the world a Savior has been born…
But your love leaves me speechless (so) …
Let the heavens be glad and all the earth rejoice*
Let the sea roar and all that fills it be my voice*
Let the fields be joyful and everything in them sing your praise*
And trees exalt you and all creation cry out amen!
BRIDGE
Oh Sing unto the Lord a new song*
Sing unto the Lord all the earth!*
Let all the nations hear your praise*
Rising up to Heaven’s gate!!
Because your love leaves me speechless (so) …
Let the heavens be glad and all the earth rejoice*
Let the sea roar and all that fills it be my voice*
Let the fields be joyful and everything in them sing your praise*
And trees exalt you and all creation cry out amen!* Amen!!
(repeat)

Special thank you to J. Nadene Delaney, my best friend of forty+ years and sister in Christ forever. She helped me with the second verse when I hit a roadblock and listened to me talk endlessly about this song as it came to me.
After it was written, she told me to “be strong and fear not” when I most needed to hear those words.
*Lyrics inspired by Psalm 96 (KJV):
- Psalm 96:1 O sing unto the Lord a new song: sing unto the Lord, all the earth.
- Psalm 96: 11 Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof.
- Psalm 96:12 Let the field be joyful, and all that is therein: then shall all the trees of the wood rejoice
