The Angels Hymn

The Angels Hymn

Angels rest not the day
They cry out to each other
While singing His praise
They sing “Holy, holy, holy, Lord G-d Almighty,
Holy, holy, holy, Lord G-d Almighty….”

Who was and is and is to come (sing praises to the One…)
Who was and is and is to come  (harmonies in reply)
Who was and is and is to come  (harmonies in reply)
Who was….and is……….and is to come.

Righteous G-d your mercy reigns
Just and true, mysterious ways
Let every creature in Heaven, earth and sea,
Join in now and sing praises to the One….

Who was and is and is to come (sing praises to the One…)
Who was and is and is to come  (harmonies in reply)
Who was and is and is to come  (harmonies in reply)
Who was….and is……….and is to come.

Bridge

I heard the voice of many angels
The morning stars all sang together
The sons of God shout out in joy… as they all join together  to sing praises to the G-d…..

Who was and is and is to come (sing praises to the One…)
Who was and is and is to come  (harmonies in reply)

Who was and is and is to come  (harmonies in reply)
Who was and is and is to come  (harmonies in reply)

Who was and is and is to come (sing praises to the One…)
Who was and is and is to come  (harmonies in reply)

Who was and is and is to come  (harmonies in reply)
Who was….and is……….and is to come.

Outro Fade

The music for this modern hymn came a lot more quickly to this song than the lyrics.  I wanted the lyrics to be very simple and focused on praising God and not on what He can do for us. The guitar work contains classical bits and pieces tucked into lively modern folk chords.

I was inspired to write this song after reading Revelation 4:8:

Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under his wings. Day and night they never stop saying: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come.”

Scripture references for this song are from Revelation 4:8, Revelation 5:13, and Isaiah 6:3.
