Scripture Give Us Wisdom and Guidance
The Bible provides clear instructions on how believers should respond when they witness wrongdoing or injustice. It emphasizes we are to demonstrate justice, compassion, and active participation in rectifying wrongs.
Micah 6: 8 tell sums up much of how we are to behave in life,
“No, he has told you what he wants, and this is all it is: to be fair, just, merciful, and to walk humbly with your God.”
Speak Up Against Injustice
The Bible encourages us to use our voice to speak up against wrongdoings and to advocate for those who cannot defend themselves.
Proverbs 31:8-9 (NIV) says,
“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.”
Isaiah 1:17 (NIV) says,
“Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.”
Act Justly and Love Mercy
Believers are called to act justly in their own lives and to show mercy towards others.
Micah 6:8 (NIV) says,
“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”
Zechariah 7:9-10 (NIV) says,
“This is what the Lord Almighty said: ‘Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another. Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, the foreigner or the poor. Do not plot evil against each other.’”
Confront and Correct the Wrongdoer
Scriptures also provide guidance on how to confront those who commit injustices. Matthew 18:15 (NIV) says,
“If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over.”
Support and Comfort the Oppressed
The Bible calls believers to support and provide comfort for those who are suffering due to injustice.
Psalm 82:3-4 (NIV) says,
“Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.”
Romans 12:15 (NIV) says,
“Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.”
Conclusion
The Bible provides a comprehensive guide for believers on how to respond to wrongdoing and injustice. By speaking up, acting justly, confronting wrongdoers, and supporting the oppressed, believers can live out their faith in a way that honors God and promotes justice in the world.
